Thin Lizzy – Black Friday Sale

During my tenure at Brand Developers, I was tasked with designing and creating an advertisement for Thin Lizzy‘s annual Black Friday Sale.

PROCESS

In previous Thin Lizzy sale campaigns, Brand Developers relied on footage montage and basic typography to promote online sales. While effective for regular sales with a limited selection, it posed a challenge for major events like Black Friday, where hundreds of products were discounted. The task at hand was to find a visually compelling way to communicate this extensive range of offerings and drive increased traffic to the website for a successful sale.

Inspired by the popular bento grid trend online, I crafted a grid-style layout to highlight the array of offers. Additionally, I devised a system enabling seamless modification of the grid animation through AE expressions, ensuring flexibility and efficiency in design iteration.

STORYBOARD
CREATION

I set up a dynamic system that allows easy modification of the grid animation using AE expressions.

  • 1. Control all the gaps between each block with a slider.
  • 2. Control the width of each block with a slider and leave the height with manual control. All the blocks will be aligned accordingly. 
  • 3. Control all the vertical scrolling speed with a slider.
RESULT

The campaign yielded over 100K NZD in online sales and proved versatile, being utilized for multiple sales events throughout the year. Leveraging my AE expression-based grid layout, I halved the subsequent production time.
